ITINERARY
Namaste and Welcome to India.

After breakfast at the hotel, start the day with a visit of the ornate Kapaleeshwarar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and discover the deep-rooted religiosity of southern India. The 7th century Temple is an example of the Dravidian architecture. Here Shiva is worshipped with his consort Parvati as Karpagambal.
Further, the National Art Gallery was built at the beginning of the 20th century and houses some magnificent figures of Lord Shiva as Nataraja and his consort Parvati.
The Catholic Basilica of St. Thomas, originally built by the Portuguese in the early 16th century mark the burial site of the Apostle. Later in the evening, enjoy a stroll along the longest beach in India, Marina Beach.

After breakfast, drive about 70 km towards Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram is also known as "The City of a Thousand Temples".
Visit the Sri Ekambareswarar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Then explore the Kailasanatha Temple, the oldest temple in Kanchipuram, built in the early 8th century.
In the afternoon drive about 65 km to Mahabalipuram. Dinner and overnight in Mahabalipuram.
After breakfast, have a city tour in Mahabalipuram and visit the temples, which have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. Shore temples, monolithic temples Pancha Rathas and also the cave temples were built here.
Enjoy a free afternoon in Mahabalipuram. Relax on the beach and let yourself be tempted by the cool water.

After breakfast at the Hotel in Mahabalipuram, drive along the coast to Pondicherry, the former French colony on the east coast of India. The French anchored their merchant ships on these beautiful Indian shores to do business some 300 years ago but ended up mixing their ways with the old Indian way of life.
Upon arrival in Pondicherry, visit the Aurobindo Ashram and, approximately 10 km away, the proposed town of Auroville, inaugurated on February 28, 1968.

After breakfast, drive to Thanjavur today. On the way visit the
Thillai Nataraja Temple
Nataraja Temple in Chidambaram is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The history of the temple goes
back about 2000 years. The present temple complex was built in the 10th century when
Chidambaram was the capital of the mighty Chola Empire.
Further proceed to Dharasuram. Visit the 12th-century constructed Airavateshwara Temple by the famous ruler of the mighty Chola dynasty, Raja Raja Chola I. The temple has been
recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Later drive to Thanjavur and check in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Thanjavur.
After breakfast in the Hotel, have an excursion first to Trichy. It’s around 1.5 hours drive to the Sri Ranga Nathaswamy Temple (Srirangam Temple) in Tiruchirapalli, also known as Trichy. The
temple with 21 temple towers is one of the largest temples in India. Just a stone's throw away is the Rockfort Temple perched on a massive rock hill. Those who climb the steps are rewarded with a magnificent view of the city.
In the afternoon, drive back to Thanjavur to visit the Brihadishwara Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and a palace museum.

Today the journey takes further to Madurai. On the way to Madurai visit Chettinad village
and experience village life. Chettinad is known for its rich architecture and cultural heritage. In
Chettinad village addition to architecture, Chettinad cuisine is becoming more and more popular across India. A
meal is served on the banana leaf and a spicy chicken curry is the most famous.
and In the afternoon, drive further to Madurai. Dinner and overnight in Madurai.
Today we are in the home of the beautiful Sri Meenakshi Temple.
Here the goddess reigns as the supreme deity and the city has grown around the temple. The temple was built during the reign of Tirumalai Nayak in the 17th century but its origins date back 2000 years. After visiting Meenakshi Temple, explore Mahatma Gandhi's Memorial Museum and also the Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace.
In the evening, experience the evening ceremony at Meenakshi Temple and be enchanted by the never-ending pilgrimage, the magnificent idols, and religious Hindu music.

After breakfast in the Hotel, we’ll leave Madurai and drive to Periyar. Along with Madurai, today we’ll
leave the Tamil Nadu state and enter Kerala, which is also known as God's own country due to
its beautiful landscape. The motto for Kerala, "God's Own Country", refers to its rich heritage,
vibrant culture, lush topography, and positive socio-political climate.
On arrival in Periyar, transfer to the Hotel.
Later in the afternoon, take a boat trip to Periyar Tiger Reserve. From the stillness of the lake
enjoy the lush landscape and observe the animals that can descend to the water's edges -
these can be elephant families, wild boar, or the magnificent Sambar deer which are native to
the Indian subcontinent.

Today is the day to explore a Tea and spice plantation in Periyar. Later enjoy an Elephant ride and can get closer to the elephants and interact for real. Dinner and overnight in Periyar.

After breakfast in the Hotel, drive for around 4 hours to Alleppey. Board a traditional Houseboat
here that will take you through the mesmerizing backwaters.
On board there is everything available for a pleasant journey / overnight stay. A bedroom with a
comfortable bed, a modern toilet with a shower, an airy lounge on the deck, and a kitchen where
regional dishes are freshly prepared.

Experience the backwaters at sunrise and soak up the enchanting morning atmosphere on board. Far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, experience palm groves and heavenly tranquility before heading to the nearby village of Mararikulam.
After breakfast on the Houseboat, have a very short drive to the village of Mararikulam. Mararikulam is known for its Marari Beach.
Today is a leisure day at the Beach.

Before heading to Kochi, have an excursion to Bharananganam. The town of Bharananganam is now known as Saint Alphonsa. Visit the tomb and memorial of Saint Alphonsa here.
Alphonsa Anna Muttathupandathu, born on August 19, 1910 in Arpukara, died on July 28, 1946 in Bharananganam. She is the first woman of Indian origin to be canonized as a Saint. A postal was published later commemorating Alphonsa.
Later drive further to Kochi, a city facing the Arabian Sea and so rightfully known as the Queen of the Arabian Sea. Cochin is a commercial city and is one of the finest natural harbors in the world. It has been a center of trade in products like pepper and pearls, spices, oil, etc for many centuries.
Experience a traditional Kathakali Dance Show in the evening.

After breakfast, have a city tour of Kochi. Visit Mattancherry Palace, the Jewish Synagogue, St. Francis Church, and the Santa Cruz Basilica.
The famous Chinese fishing nets in the harbor are reminiscent of times gone by.
